ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਭਲਾਈ, ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਘੁਲਾਟੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਗਬਾਨੀ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਮਹਿੰਦਰ ਭਗਤ ਨੇ 76ਵੇਂ ਗਣਤੰਤਰ ਦਿਵਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਨਵਾਂਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਕੌਮੀ ਝੰਡਾ ਲਹਿਰਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਖਟਕੜ ਕਲਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ-ਏ-ਆਜ਼ਮ ਸ. ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ’ਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਸੁਮਨ ਅਰਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਉਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ-ਏ-ਆਜ਼ਮ ਸ. ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਤ ’ਤੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਮਾਲਾਵਾਂ ਭੇਟ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਉਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਸ. ਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਰਕ ’ਤੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਅਰਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਉਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ  ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਸਦਕਾ ਹੀ ਅੱਜ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਫ਼ਿਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਹ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ। ਉਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ-ਏ-ਆਜ਼ਮ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਜੱਦੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਸਹੁੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਬਣੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ, ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਸੋਚ ’ਤੇ ਪਹਿਰਾ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਫ਼ਿਰਕੂ ਸਦਭਾਵਨਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਖੁਸ਼ਹਾਲ ਸਮਾਜ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਵਾਹ ਲਗਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ਹਾਲੀ ਲਈ ਕਈ ਲੋਕ ਪੱਖੀ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਸਕੀਮਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਕੁਰੀਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਈ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ।। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਦਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕੋ-ਇਕ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੰਜੋਏ ਸੁਪਨਿਆਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਾਜ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਸੂਬਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਖਟਕੜ ਕਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਧਰਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਵਿਰਾਸਤੀ ਗਲੀ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਦਾ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਸੁਤੰਤਰਤਾ ਸੰਗਰਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਨਾਮੱਤੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ 850 ਮੀਟਰ ਲੰਮੀ ਇਹ ਵਿਰਾਸਤੀ ਗਲੀ ਅਜਾਇਬ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਤੱਕ ਬਣਾਈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਗਲੀ ਜਿਥੇ ਸੁਤੰਤਰਤਾ ਸੰਗਰਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਏਗੀ, ਉੱਥੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਲਈ ਤਨਦੇਹੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰੇਗੀ।
     ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਬੰਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਟੇਟ ਕੰਟੇਨਰ ਐਂਡ ਵੇਅਰਹਾਊਸ ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਡਾ. ਸੁਖਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਖੀ, ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਰਾਜੇਸ਼ ਧੀਮਾਨ, ਐਸ. ਐਸ. ਪੀ ਡਾ. ਮਹਿਤਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਸਤਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਲਾਲਪੁਰ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਜਲ ਸਰੋਤ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਉੱਪ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਕੁਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਹਾਲ, ਜਗਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੋਢੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸ਼ਖ਼ਸੀਅਤਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ।

Khatkar Kalan/Banga January 27(Manjinder Singh) On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day,  Freedom Fighters, Defence Services Welfare and Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat, paid tributes at the memorial of Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan before unfurling the national flag at Nawanshahr. On this occasion, he offered floral tributes not only at the statue of Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh but also at the memorial of his father, S. Kishan Singh. 
Speaking on the occasion, he said that it is because of the sacrifices of the martyrs that we are breathing in a free atmosphere of today. He emphasized that the Punjab government, which took an oath from this ancestral village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, is committed to upholding his vision and is making tireless efforts to create a prosperous society based on communal harmony. 
He stated that the government has launched several people-centric and development-oriented schemes for the welfare of citizens and has taken numerous steps to eradicate social evils. He further added that the sole objective of these initiatives is to build a society that fulfills the dreams envisioned by great martyrs. 
The minister also mentioned that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government has decided to construct a “Heritage Street” at this sacred land of Khatkar Kalan to showcase the glorious contributions of Punjabis and Punjab in the freedom struggle. He informed that this 850-meter-long heritage street will be constructed from the museum to Shaheed Bhagat Singh's ancestral house. This project aims to highlight the great contributions of Punjab in the independence movement and inspire the youth to work diligently for the nation. 
On this occasion, MLA Banga and Chairman of Punjab State Container and Warehousing Corporation, Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman, SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh, District Planning Committee Chairman Satnam Singh Jalalpur, Vice Chairman of Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation Kuljeet Singh Sarhal, and other dignitaries were present.
